Giving Traffic-Experiment spamming a go

Date March 30, 2008

I found an interesting site called Traffic experiment at the aptly named Traffic- Experiment.com.

There’s a blog post about it at AndrewMesser.com. The idea seems to be as follows:

  • I link to Traffic-Experiment using the referrer code
  • I make sure I click on that link a number of times a day
  • If all goes well, I get a permanent link from the site to me

It a very elegant way of attracting links. It doesn’t appear at first glance to be simple link baiting, but thats exactly what it is. In the early days, there’s an attraction to going for it, since it would appear to be relatively easy to get one of the top 3 positions which ensures a permanent link to the site.

If it gets popular it will end up with a good page rank and therefore continue to be popular with those like me who are after any easy linking option, without going to the effort of actually creating content.

It is also very clever because it appear to be all about traffic, but the end result is that at least temporarily Traffic- Experiment gets links.

Very, very clever. Check it out.

Have a stonker!
