Blog Competitions - are they just link spam?
February 16, 2008
I came across a very nice competition at AndrewMesser.com the other day but I’ve decided not to enter it.
Well, I wasn’t going to but then I saw that the JACKPOT had increased to $25.01. That becomes so fairly compelling logic. At a measly $25, I could let it pass me by.
So what have I done to get into the running.
- Firstly I picked up the referral code for the link at the bottom of the competition page.
- I blogged about the competition - you are reading this
- I subscribed to the AndrewMesser.com FULL RSS feed.
- And in a moment I’m going to pop back to AndrewMesser and (since I’ve changed my mind again) let him know that I’m NOT entering the competition.
But for the rest of you I think it’s a highly worthwhile endeavor. YOU SHOULD DEFINITELY ENTER AS MANY LINK SPAM COMPETITIONS AS YOU CAN.
Actually, I’m only being ‘holier than thou’, about competitions because I have no idea how effective they are.
Are competitions worth doing?
Do they supercharge your web site?
Perhaps Andrew Messer will pop along here and tell us how effective he found his competition? Perhaps it will change our mind?
So I’ll pose my headline again - are blogging contests just link spam or are they the “buzzing blogger community” that Google states is an excellent place to generate interest in your web site.
I don’t know - you tell me.
Have a stonker!
Jolly Shonker.

You’ve got so many entries, but you are welcome to forfeit them. It’s certainly up to you.
